	TOMAHAWK BIRD TRAPS Tomahawk Bird Traps, Model 501 and 503, work well on grackle, sparrow and other birds that can be baited into the trap. Both of Tomahawk's Bird Traps come assembled with small wire mesh openings, and two repeating trap doors. Birds can enter the trap from either direction because there is a funnel door on each end of the trap. The unique design of the funnel doors encourages birds to move forward, into the traps, as they eat the grain. The birds just keep eating their way in, and can't get out. For optimal trapping conditions, is best to construct a platform 5 to 6 feet above the ground and long enough to extend 6 to 8 inches beyond each end of the designated trap. This provides the sparrows, or blackbirds with a landing perch. The platform should be pre-baited for several days before a trap is introduced. After the birds become familiar with their new feeding spot, place a Tomahawk sparrow or grackle trap in the middle of the platform. Place more grain in the middle of the trap, sprinkle some around the outer edges of the trap, and make sure to sprinkle some leading into the trap. The birds will funnel into the trap as they eat the grain.
